MOMMY TALKS PODCAST Episode 25
- MOMMY TALKS PODCAST
Thanksgiving is currently tied with Christmas for the most family-oriented holiday. An article written in 2017, indicates that there are approximately 46.9 million people that travel during these two holidays alone. Can you imagine the money that is being spent for them to do so as well as the money that the ones that aren't traveling typically will spend just to partake in the festivities.
Some of them will even be spending money that they may not even have because according to society this is the "American Way," which is to buy things on credit and then owe people money. Which is exactly why I decided to discontinue celebrating any of the holidays.
But in addition to spending the unnecessary money, I honestly feel that we have forgotten the true meaning of thanksgiving.
Sure, We Gather With Family & Friends
Sure, we gather with our family and friends in our newest gear on that fourth Thursday of November every year to go around the table or around the room to say what we are thankful for.
For most of us, this is the only day out of the entire year we even acknowledge what we are thankful for because we tend to spend the majority of our time the other days in the year focusing on the things that we feel are a nuisance to where we are currently in life.
Shoot just this year alone, I had plans to move into a new apartment so that I could save money to prepare for buying my family a house, but there have been unexpected things that have since I made the move, which I have spent a lot of time focusing on like:
- What seems like an ant infestation in the new apartment having to take extreme measures with the syrup and honey like having to place it in the refrigerator.
- Issues at work.
- Drove across two states on bad brakes which caused me to not only replace the brakes but the rotors as well unexpectedly.
- Issue from my breast implants surgery, which is now requiring me to prepare for a second surgery unless I don't mind walking aroung with uneven (bigger) boobs.
I've discovered that the secret to a better life is gratitude.
So, while there has been a lot going on in my life this year alone there is still so much that I have to be grateful for like:
- The fact that I have a job to go to that allows me to work from home even prior to Covid.
- Not only that, but during a time that so many have been dispositioned by their jobs due to Covid my job has been offering overtime.
- Outside of the issues, I am experiencing because of the ants I have a lake view just outside of by patio door.
- I have not 1, but 2 healthy sons.
- I myself am pretty healthy as well.
- My sons haven't been exposed to as much of what I have experienced while committed to giving them a better life.
